 Importance of autism awareness Many people have difficulties understanding autism. I have seen posts on social media of parents complaining  how family members, teachers and the community battle to understand autism. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by difficulties in communication and social skills. Because of this children diagnosed with autism sometimes behave in a certain way that is not understood by most people. People cope well in a positive environment, children with autism can cope adequately with the support from family, school and the community in general. Children with autism has their own way of understanding and dealing with situations, therefore when you relate to them it's important to understand their needs and perspective of the world. Children with autism are often misunderstood as naughty, not showing empathy and have no intention to communicate with other people. For this purpose it's important that we raise autism awareness so
